Juan Fernandez Islands

The Juan Fernandez Islands consist of three islands (Robinson Crusoe Island, Santa Clara Island, and Alexander Selkirk Island) located in the eastern Pacific Ocean near Chile.

Bellin, 1750

Map of Robinson Crusoe Island (the large one) and the smaller, Santa Clara Island, along with a view of the island from the sea. Note the unusual orientation of this map, with north-northwest at the top.

Anson, 1750

Similar map to the Bellin map above, look at the compass rose to see the odd orientation of this map.

Bellin, 1755

Map and view of Cumberland Bay, on the northeast part of Robinson Crusoe Island. Note that Bellin has oriented this map in yet a different direction, mostly to facilitate entry into the bay by ships.
